Hello and welcome to Year 3!

It is lovely to to meet you all. You seem very grown up already and seem to be handling your 'Big Move Upstairs' really well!

However there are some new routines, so don't worry if you still feel a bit nervous.

I am Mrs Walsh and our teaching assistant is Mrs Collins. We've both been at Portland for a really long time, so please ask us if you need any help.

Our topic this term is a new one for all of us- The Ancient Egyptians. We will learn all about the Pyramids, the Pharoahs- especially Tutenkhamen- and mummification. If you can do any research at home that would be great.

For the time being, PE is on a Thursday. We have your school PE kits here, but if you would like to bring in sensible running around pumps or trainers, that would help.

Homework is usually given out on a Tuesday and should be:

  • Spellings, for a test the following Tuesday
  • Maths, based on class learning or a general topic, eg; times tables
  • English, again probably based on class learning, or maybe a grammar or punctuation reminder
  • Sometimes a topic or science homework
You will get a dojo point if you bring your homework in, and I will keep a record of who does or does not do homework each week.
We have no trips or visits planned as yet, but I will get in touch as soon as possible if that changes.
Please do not hesitate to come and find myself or Mrs Collins if there are any issues or problems,
Mrs Walsh x

Love from,

Mrs Walsh

Here are a few photos from our class assembly - the theme was "Water". We performed a play and we were fantastic. Mrs Walsh and Miss Green were very impressed.
Thank you to all those people who came to watch - the children and staff all very much appreciated it.
