Autumn Term 2017

Welcome back from the Summer Holidays for your child's final year at Portland Primary! We have three terms of intensive hard work and good times ahead of us before the end of Year 6. Mr. Heywood and Mrs Barnes are very excited about working with their new class!

It's really important that the children are here every day, and that they put 100% effort into their classwork and homework so that they can do their very best this year. SATs take place in May and we hope this year group will be one that all achieve well!

We have the excitement of a trip to Barnstondale in October, while children will also need to be thinking about secondary school choices very soon. If anyone has any questions in the meantime, please get in touch.

Click on the blue link below (Year 6 aut term cross curric overview) to find out about topics we will be covering in the Year 6 curriculum this autumn.

Homework

Your child will continue to receive Spelling, Reading and either Maths, Grammar or Comprehension homework every Monday, which is due in on Friday, sooner if possible. I would appreciate it if you would support your child by  checking his / her homework bag daily and ensuring they complete it and hand it in on time. Thank You!

If you would like further information on the Year 6 Curriculum, or have any questions, please contact Mr. Heywood.

On Fridays, Year 6 buddy up with Year 1 to do some shared reading. We read them their favourite stories. It is lovely to watch them enjoying books together and we hope to continue this throughout the year.
