Spring Term 2018

Welcome back from the Christmas Holidays for your child's most important few months at Portland Primary! We have a term of intensive hard work  ahead of us before the end of SATs, so the real hard work starts now!

It's really important that the children are here every day, and that they put 100% effort into their classwork and homework so that they can do their very best this year. SATs take place in May and we hope this year group will be one that all achieve well!

All pupils will be attending booster sessions, either during the school day, at lunchtimes and even after school in some cases! These give us a great opportunity to work with individuals or in small groups to make sure everyone achieves their potential. After SATs, there will be a range of fun activities and more emphasis on creative subjects such as Art and PE, so the children aren't missing out too much!

A meeting about SATs for parents will be arranged shortly.

Homework

Your child will continue to receive Spelling, Reading, Maths, Grammar and / or Comprehension homework every Tuesday, which is due in on Friday, sooner if possible. I would appreciate it if you would support your child by  checking his / her homework bag daily and ensuring they complete it and hand it in on time. Thank You!

If you would like further information on the Year 6 Curriculum, or have any questions, please contact Mr. Heywood.

On Fridays, Year 6 buddy up with Year 1 to do some shared reading. We read them their favourite stories. It is lovely to watch them enjoying books together and we hope to continue this throughout the year.
