Summer Term 2018

Welcome back from the Easter Holidays for your child's most important few weeks at Portland Primary! We have just 4 weeks until  SATs, so it's time to dig in!

It's really important that the children are here every day, and that they put 100% effort into their classwork and homework so that they can do their best in the tests.

Booster sessions will continue, either during the school day or at lunchtimes, and we will inform you at Parents' Evenings about how to best help your child to be ready. After SATs, there will be a range of fun activities and more emphasis on creative subjects such as Art and PE, so the children aren't missing out too much!

Click on the blue link below (Year 6 summer term cross curric overview) to find out about topics we will be covering in the Year 6 curriculum this summer.

Homework

Your child will continue to receive Spelling, Reading, Maths, Grammar and / or Comprehension homework every Tuesday, which is due in on Friday, sooner if possible. I would appreciate it if you would support your child by  checking his / her homework bag daily and ensuring they complete it and hand it in on time. Thank You!

If you would like further information on the Year 6 Curriculum, or have any questions, please contact Mr. Heywood.

On Fridays, Year 6 buddy up with Year 1 to do some shared reading. We read them their favourite stories. It is lovely to watch them enjoying books together and we hope to continue this throughout the year.
